Chennai: Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi inaugurated the 2025-26 academic session of Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) and lauded the institution's contribution to national security education and research.

Speaking at the event, Governor Ravi commended the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for transforming the former Raksha Shakti University into a national-level institution catering to emerging security challenges. The University was conceptualised in response to recurring terrorist threats targeting civilians, institutions, and religious places across the country.

Highlighting the visible shift in internal security since 2014, Ravi noted that the government's zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and internal insurgency has strengthened law enforcement using existing systems. He stressed the importance of inculcating Shatrubodh (awareness of adversaries) and Rashtrabodh (national consciousness) among students to foster effective and research-backed responses to security threats.

Referring to Operation Sindoor, Ravi emphasized the need for tactical precision in countering attacks, urging RRU to train future professionals not just in combat but in critical thinking and preventive measures.

Calling on students to rise above linguistic and cultural divisions, he said the youth must embrace India's diversity as part of one national family.

The Governor urged RRU to function not merely as an academic institution but as a knowledge centre akin to Guru Dronacharya, identifying national challenges and suggesting practical solutions before crises escalate.

RRU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Bimal Patel outlined the University's achievements, diverse courses, rigorous training systems, and global presence. He thanked the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and leadership of armed forces and police organisations for their continued support.

The event underscored RRU's growing role as a “Rashtriya and Global Suraksha Gyaan Setu” - a national and global bridge for security knowledge.
