Chennai: Rahul, Regional Director of Staff Selection Commission of India, Rahul, has urged students from Tamil Nadu to actively consider employment opportunities in the Central government sector.

Speaking to media persons, the official highlighted a noticeable decline in Tamil representation in Central government departments over the past two decades. "Earlier, many Tamils held senior positions, including that of Chief Secretary. But in recent years, there has been a decline in their participation," he said.

He attributed this trend to a lack of awareness among students regarding recruitment exams conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). “To address this, we are currently disseminating SSC job notifications to all universities, colleges, and the state's Department of Employment and Training,” he added.

Rahul noted that all SSC examinations are computer-based, with no interviews involved. The application fee is a nominal ₹100, and the recruitment details are available on the official portal https://ssc.gov.in.

Currently, SSC has announced recruitment for 14,582 graduate-level posts, with the last date to apply being July 4. Additionally, exams for 3,131 posts at the Higher Secondary level (Plus Two qualification) will be conducted between September 8 and 18, and applications must be submitted by July 18.

Examinations will be conducted in eight Tamil Nadu cities—Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Trichy, Vellore, Krishnagiri, Salem, and Tirunelveli. Rahul pointed out that even entry-level Group D positions offer a starting salary of ₹32,000.

He advised students to strengthen their skills in English, general knowledge, mathematics, typing, and computer operations. Importantly, candidates applying for positions with a 10th standard qualification can write the exams in Tamil.
