Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has sanctioned ₹152.97 crore for upgrading infrastructure in state-run colleges during the current academic year.
Higher Education Minister Govi Chezhian announced that this initiative is part of a five-year plan launched in 2022, with a total outlay of ₹1,000 crore aimed at improving the infrastructure of government arts, science, engineering, and polytechnic colleges across the state.
This year's allocation will focus on enhancing facilities such as laboratories, classrooms, and other essential infrastructure in 31 arts and science colleges, 12 polytechnic institutions, and six engineering colleges.
The Minister emphasized the government's commitment to fostering a better learning environment for students in higher education institutions.
