Madurai: Candidates who appeared for the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) Group 4 examination in Madurai district on Sunday gave mixed feedback, with many calling the Tamil and General Knowledge sections relatively easy, while others pointed to time constraints and question complexity.

The examination was held to fill 3,935 vacancies, including posts such as Village Administrative Officer (VAO), Junior Assistant, and Forest Guard. In Madurai, 73,809 candidates were allotted to 265 exam centres, with 61,442 (83%) candidates attending and 12,367 (17%) remaining absent. District Collector Praveen Kumar visited examination centres in Madurai, Thirunagar and Thirumangalam to oversee arrangements.

While several aspirants found the Tamil language section easy, opinions varied on other areas. Muthuchelvi, a repeat candidate from Puducherry, said: “This is my third attempt. Tamil questions were simple, but General Knowledge and Constitutional Law sections were challenging.”

First-time test-taker Gnanaprasanth from Vilangudi, a third-year engineering student, shared: “The questions in Mathematics and General Knowledge were manageable. However, compared to previous exams, this one felt tougher.”

Another candidate, Vasuki from Achambattu, said most questions were based on the school syllabus. “This is my second attempt. Tamil and Mathematics were easy. Many questions were from Class 10 and Plus 1 textbooks.”

Dharani from Peraiyur, also an engineering student, believed the overall ease of the paper could lead to a higher cut-off. “General Knowledge required careful thought, but Tamil was straightforward. A higher cut-off score is likely this year,” she said.
