Chennai: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has extended the deadline for admissions to open and online distance education courses for the 2025 academic session till Oct 15.

Earlier, the commission had directed higher education institutions across the country to complete the admission process for these programmes by Sept 15.

However, considering requests from universities and to facilitate wider student participation, the deadline has now been pushed back by two months.

The UGC has also cautioned students to verify the recognition status of programmes before enrolling.
