Kanpur: The National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG), in collaboration with IIT Kanpur, hosted its second webinar on Public Policy and Good Governance on October 24, 2024.

The session was chaired by V. Srinivas, Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), and Director General of NCGG. Two distinguished professors from IIT Kanpur shared insights on policy challenges and the role of digital platforms.

Dr. Ajay Kumar, former Defence Secretary and Distinguished Visiting Professor at IIT Kanpur, discussed the evolving landscape of public policy, stressing phased reforms and digitization's role in policy-making, including its application in land record digitization. Emphasizing data-driven decision-making, Dr. Kumar advocated for inclusive approaches and incentives to advance progressive policies.

Prof. Vimal Kumar, Head of Economic Sciences at IIT Kanpur, focused on platform business models within the digital economy. Highlighting the evolution from single-product businesses to expansive networks, he examined platform usage in diverse areas like e-commerce and social media. Using BMW and Uber as case studies, Prof. Kumar underscored the strategic importance of networked platforms in modern business.

Dr. Himanshi Rastogi, Associate Professor at NCGG, concluded the webinar, thanking participants from key national institutes and V. Srinivas for his leadership in the event.
