Bangalore: Cracking a major job racket, city police nabbed a 23 year old woman from Odisha who was allegedly involved in not only cheating a premier organisation like ISRO but also 84 students promising them jobs in the space organisation, police said.
The accused, identified as Shraddha Shashwati Mohanty was arrested on February 28 from Bhubaneshwar and has been in police custody since then, police sources told PTI.
According to police, the accused landed in ISRO office here, with fake appointment letter stating that she had been appointed by ISRO.
On suspicion the officials there filed a complaint with the jurisdictional Sanjay Nagar Police.
Two months later, seven other persons came to ISRO with similar fake appointment letters.
Sanjay Nagar police team which was already on the job then discovered that the con woman had cheated 84 students of an engineering college in Bhubaneshwar, making the Principal of that college collect Rs 1.92 lakh from the students and give to her for plum jobs in ISRO.
Trailing the accused, the police team nabbed her at Bhubaneshwar. However, during interrogation it was found that the accused had spent the entire amount during her stay here.
"We are still investigating the case and are sure to nab the her other seven accomplices in the fraud", police said, refusing to divulge further details as the case is still being probed.
