Jan. 12 - According to a major new research, four hundred crores, nearly two thirds of world's population face severe water scarcity for atleast one month in an year.

Majority of these population live in India and China. Developed regions such as central and western parts in the United States, Australia and even the city of London have been classified as regions with fragile water resources.

The research alarms that Yemen could run out of water within a few years. Many other countries including Pakistan, Iran, Mexico, and Saudi Arabia are soon to deplete their ground water aquifers. Researchers from University of Twente, one of the world's top 100 insitutions based out of Netherlands have done this extensive study. The Research also finds that above 90 percent of global fresh water is being used for irrigated agriculture.
