As part of 50 years of India Qatar diplomatic relations, On 3rd May 2023, Indian Cultural Centre, under the aegis of the Embassy of India, conducted the inaugural ICC Wednesday Fiesta, a weekly cultural event of the vibrant Indian community residing in Qatar. The inaugural event was held in the Ashoka Hall of ICC. A quality display of thematic performances by different groups captivated the large number of audience that was in attendance.Mr. Mohan Kumar, ICC General Secretary welcomed the guests and dignitaries. Mr. AP Manikantan in his Presidential speech explained that the intention of this weekly festival is to give a performance stage to the large Indian diaspora residing in Qatar that is represented by various Affiliated Organizations(AO) of the Indian Cultural Centre, institutes and the schools and for the entire community to come together and witness and enjoy a rich Indian cultural heritage. Mrs. Sumaa Mahesh Gowda, cultural secretary at ICC, coordinated the event proceedings. Mr. Subramanya Hebbagelu, ICC Vice President gave away Vote of thanks.Her Excellency Mrs. Angeline Premalatha, Chargé d'affaires representing the Indian Embassy was the Chief Guest for the event. Lt. Abdul Aziz Al Mohannadi, Awareness section at Community Policing Department, was the guest of honor. The event was graced by the presence of Dr KM Bahauddeen, Community Coordinator at Community Policing Department, Mr. Xavier Dhanaraj, Coordinating officer and First Secretary (Consular, Passport, Visa & Community Affairs) at the Embassy of India, Ms. Padma Kari, First Secretary (Political & Information) at the Embassy of India and Mr. Satheesh Pillai, Chairman ICC advisory Council. Moving forward, ‘ICC Wednesday Fiesta’ will be conducted every Wednesday in ICC Ashoka Hall starting 7pm. ICC Managing and Advisory Committee has extended it’s warm invitation to the entire Indian diaspora residing in Qatar to attend this gathering regularly every week.- MohanKumar from Qatar
