USA/Seattle, Sept. 3, 2025: Vijaye Raji, an alumnus of Pondicherry Engineering College (PEC), has been appointed as OpenAI new CTO of Applications. In conjunction with the appointment, OpenAI is acquiring Statsig, the product experimentation platform founded by Raji, in an all-stock deal valued at $1.1 billion.

In its announcement, OpenAI said, Statsig, a trusted platform for A/B testing, feature flagging, and real-time decision-making for the worlds leading companies, is joining us. Raji will report directly to Fidji Simo, who leads OpenAI Applications team.

The deal is subject to regulatory approval. After the acquisition closes, Statsig will continue to serve its existing customers from its Seattle office, and all employees will be offered the option to join OpenAI.

Vijaye Raji studied Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) at PEC from 1995 to 1999. The college has since been elevated to Puducherry Technological University (PTU).

Educators and industry circles have hailed Raji achievement as a source of pride for Puducherry and India technology community.
