Washington DC — September 19 2024— Kathirvel Kumararaja a life member of GOPIO had the honor of attending a White House briefing alongside the Asian American Unity Coalition, discussing crucial legislative measures aimed at creating a more equitable future for Asian Americans and immigrants. The primary focus of the briefing was the reintroduction of a bill similar to S.3291 - the EAGLE Act of 2023, which addresses the Green Card backlog impacting H1B visa holders, and additional legislation aimed at combating hate crimes against Asian Americans.
During the briefing, leaders and advocates delved into solutions to address these critical issues, emphasizing the need for policy reforms that ensure fairness and protection for immigrant communities. Following the White House session, Kathirvel Kumararaja participated in engaging discussions with lawmakers on Capitol Hill, reinforcing the importance of fostering unity, equality, and safety for all communities.
