The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a key entrance exam for admission into master's degree programs at top educational institutions in India. It also serves as a gateway for job opportunities in prestigious public and private sector companies.
Significance:
GATE is essential for those seeking admission to M.Tech, M.S., and Ph.D. programs. Additionally, many public and private sector companies consider GATE scores for recruitment. The exam is organized jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). GATE 2025 will be conducted by IIT Roorkee.
Eligibility Criteria:
To appear for GATE 2025, candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in engineering, technology, architecture, science, arts, or commerce from a recognized institution. Final-year students are also eligible. Notably, there is no age limit for participating in the exam.
Examination Details:
The GATE exam covers 30 disciplines, allowing candidates to apply for one or two papers. It is conducted online in multiple sessions, featuring 65 questions across a 3-hour duration for a total of 100 marks. The question types include Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. GATE scores remain valid for three years.
Fee Structure:
Applicants who register between August 24 and September 26 will need to pay ₹1,800 per paper. For late applicants registering by October 7, the fee increases to ₹2,300. Women, SC/ST, and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates pay ₹900, with a late fee of ₹1,400.
Important Dates:
The GATE 2025 exam will take place on February 1, 2, 15, and 16, with results announced on March 19. The application deadline is September 26, 2024.
