Admissions to engineering courses in Tamil Nadu are conducted every year through the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) process. Students are admitted to government and private engineering colleges across the state.

Online Registration
The first step is to register on the TNEA website: https://www.tneaonline.org. During registration, students must upload the required documents, including the Class 12 mark sheet, community certificate and proof of residence.

Document Verification
Students participating in the counselling process must submit their certificates for verification at TNEA Facilitation Centres (TFCs). The documents uploaded online are verified at these centres.

Publication of Rank List
A rank list is prepared based on the students' Class 12 marks. The ranking is determined using the marks obtained in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Seats are allotted in accordance with the reservation policy applicable to different categories.

Counselling
Students are invited for counselling in phases based on their rank.
Round 1: Top-ranked candidates
Round 2: Candidates ranked below the first group
Round 3: Candidates with lower ranks
Each round is conducted according to a specified date and time.

Choice Filling
This is the most crucial stage of the admission process. Students must arrange their preferred colleges and branches in the order of their preference. There is no limit to the number of choices they can enter.

Students should make their choices carefully, taking their rank into account. Giving preference to reputed institutions is advisable. Details of the previous five years' college cut-off marks are available on the TNEA website: https://www.tneaonline.org.

Candidates are more likely to secure the best possible allotment if they understand their rank, carefully evaluate their options and make informed choices. Since choice filling plays a decisive role in seat allotment, it should be completed with due care and attention.

Final Seat Allotment
The final seat allotment is made based on the candidates' choices and their rank.

College Admission
After confirming the allotted seat, students must report to the respective college in person, submit the required original documents and complete the admission formalities.
