On Teachers' Day, I extend my gratitude, on behalf of the people of India, to every teacher who imparts knowledge, skills, values and inspiration to millions of students.

Teachers who earn respect through their talent and character, and students who honour such teachers, are role models for society.

Teachers should treat their students with the same love and care they would give their own children, while guiding them fairly and without bias. They should exercise patience rather than venting anger on students and must always place their well-being first.

A guide
A teacher's role goes far beyond delivering a curriculum. Through their own conduct, teachers impart the qualities and skills needed for a constructive and fulfilling life.

A teacher should be more than an instructor—they should be a well-wisher, friend and guide in a student's journey of learning.

Fostering independent thinking, sparking curiosity, encouraging students to question, and developing their ability to debate and make decisions are among the noblest and most fulfilling aspects of teaching.

Teachers must help students stand tall as individuals with distinct personalities. Such inspiring education can nurture a generation capable of becoming successful entrepreneurs, brilliant scientists and creative artists who can find innovative solutions to the challenges confronting society.

Teaching is not merely a job or profession. It is a solemn pledge—a mission to shape human society. It is the noble responsibility of every teacher to help create a brighter future for generations to come.

When parents and guardians send their children to school, they place immense trust in teachers. They expect teachers to care for their children as they would their own and remain attentive to their safety, development and progress.

It is every teacher's duty to uphold that trust. Their conduct and actions should never create fear or anxiety in children, undermine their confidence or make them feel inferior.

Priority
India is moving towards the goal of becoming a developed nation founded on social inclusion. In this journey, teachers have a vital role in nurturing students who respect our rich cultural heritage, develop a scientific temper, work for the welfare of humanity and care for the most marginalised sections of society.

Teachers should nurture a generation that protects the environment and all living beings, pursues excellence in individual and collective endeavours, and moves forward with a spirit of 'Nation First'.

We must always hold in high regard teachers who discharge their responsibilities with dedication and integrity.

I sincerely hope that, with the contribution of our dedicated teachers, students will continue to learn and grow, and India will attain a noble stature as a guiding light to the world.
