Chennai: The National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR) Chennai celebrated its 61st Institution Day on December 15, 2024, marking its Diamond Jubilee.
Prof. T.G. Sitharam, Chairman of AICTE, attended as Chief Guest and delivered an inspiring address.
The Chairman spoke about India's unique blend of ancient knowledge and modern technological advancements, highlighting the transformative potential of technologies such as AR/VR, Generative AI, and blockchain in education and research.
He praised India's achievements in defense technology, led by ISRO and DRDO, and urged engineers to innovate and contribute to the nation's progress.
During the event, he unveiled the NITTTR Chennai Diamond Jubilee Coffee Table Book and Souvenir, and inaugurated the NITTTR Kalanjiyam - Digital Education Connect Portal and a Mental Wellness Programme for students in higher education.
Prof. Usha Natesan, Director of NITTTR Chennai, in her presidential address, underscored the institute's three-decade-long contributions to technical education. She highlighted NITTTR's role in teacher training, capacity building, and its involvement in national initiatives like SWAYAM, ATAL, and AICTE's Marga Darshan project.
The celebrations concluded with vibrant cultural performances showcasing Tamil Nadu's rich traditions and heritage.
