Chennai: As part of the Government of India's Viksit Bharat@2047 initiative, the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals conducted its 4th training programme on “Chemical and Petrochemical Industrial Safety” in Chennai on January 23-24, 2025.

Held at the Institute of Petrochemicals Technology (IPT), the event emphasized safety in Major Accident Hazard (MAH) units.

The programme, part of a nationwide series targeting 2,393 MAH units, aims to deliver 48 training sessions over five years. This session drew 113 participants from 65 industries.

Experts from institutions such as CLRI, Anna University, and Thirumalai Chemicals shared insights on safety, risk management, toxicology, and hazardous waste management. The event also featured a mock drill conducted with Kothari Petrochemicals, providing hands-on experience.

The programme reiterated its motto, “Safety First, Sustainability Always,” underlining its commitment to protecting people and the environment through enhanced safety practices.
