Chennai: IIT Roorkee has signed a Technology Transfer Agreement with EnrEnv Smart Chemicals and Materials Pvt. Ltd. to advance Li-ion battery technology.

The technology, developed by Prof. Paritosh Mohanty and Ms. Bishnupriya Swain, involves a novel method for synthesizing Lithium Lanthanum Zirconium Oxide (LLZO) solid-state electrolytes at low temperatures using a modified sol-gel method.

Manas Ranjan Katual, Co-founder of EnrEnv, emphasized the significance of this innovation for India's sustainability efforts, citing the lack of domestic LLZO manufacturers. He believes this development will enhance India's self-reliance and drive sustainable growth.

Prof. Akshay Dvivedi, Dean of Sponsored Research at IIT Roorkee, highlighted the importance of industry collaborations in advancing India's Li-ion battery technology, emphasizing the role this partnership plays in propelling the country toward a more sustainable and self-sufficient future.

Prof. K.K. Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, underscored the broader impact of the technology transfer, stating that it not only reduces dependency on external sources but also accelerates India's transition to renewable energy, promoting a circular economy and greener future for the nation.
