Kannagi Nagar: Kannagi Nagar Government Higher Secondary School, with an enrollment of 1,150 students, includes 418 students in classes 10 to 12. Among these, 122 students are currently studying in class 12.
In recent years, class 12 dropout rates have risen due to factors such as exam anxiety, lack of interest in academics, and home environments compelling students to take up work.
To address this, the First Generation Learners Center has initiated efforts to ensure all 122 students complete their exams and pursue higher education.
As part of this initiative, the organization's volunteers has taken up the task of visiting each student's home to understand their needs and provide support.
A promotional camp for the program commenced yesterday, with former Chief Secretary Dr. Irai Anbu participating.
Dr. Irai Anbu highlighted that volunteers will visit the homes of all 122 class 12 students, offering guidance on the importance of education and addressing concerns like exam stress. He urged students to seek help from them to overcome challenges.
“If required, I will personally visit the homes of all 122 students. It is crucial to avoid distractions, and mobile phones are a primary cause of such distractions. Students should check messages only at designated times, switch off their phones, and focus on their lessons,” he advised.
This initiative aims to motivate students and reduce dropout rates, paving the way for a brighter academic future.
