Chennai: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) marked a historic milestone today with the successful launch of its 100th rocket from Sriharikota.

The NVS-02 satellite was placed into orbit at 6:23 AM using the GSLV F-15 rocket from the second launch pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre.

With this launch, ISRO has now successfully deployed five satellites in its navigation series, with three more to be launched to complete the project. Dr. V. Narayanan, a space scientist from Tamil Nadu and the newly appointed ISRO Chairman, hailed the achievement as a moment of national pride. He extended his congratulations to all scientists—past and present—who contributed to this success.

Dr. Narayanan highlighted that ISRO has launched over 500 satellites to date, including more than 400 foreign satellites. Looking ahead, he outlined the organisation's upcoming projects, including the operationalisation of Sriharikota's third launch pad within four years, a collaboration with NASA on the NISAR satellite, and the development of next-generation rockets.

He also confirmed that ISRO is prioritising key missions such as Gaganyaan, Chandrayaan 4 and 5, and India's own space station.

Reaffirming India's push towards self-reliance in space exploration, he stated that several more satellite projects are in the pipeline this year, reinforcing ISRO's role in advancing India's space ambitions.
