Effective communication is essential for acing a job interview. Beyond answering recruiters' questions adeptly, it's crucial to leave a lasting impact, says Andrew McCaskill, a LinkedIn career expert from New York.

In an interview with a media outlet, McCaskill shared what he believes is the smartest thing job seekers can say during an interview with prospective employers. This key statement should be made at the end of the interview:

"I want to underscore how much I want this job. I think my skills and experiences are perfect for it, and that I could have a strong, positive impact on the team. Here's why..."

While this may seem bold, McCaskill explains that ending an interview this way demonstrates two qualities highly valued by hiring managers: confidence and enthusiasm.

"Think of it as your closing pitch," McCaskill advises. "You don't want the interviewer to be unsure about your interest in the role or your ability to succeed."

He also suggests keeping this explanation concise, focusing on two or three key skills mentioned in the job description that align with the organization's goals.

Additionally, McCaskill recommends practicing these talking points with a friend or mentor to boost confidence. "Interviews are a performance art, and to perform well, you have to rehearse," he says. "The best interviewers are those who have rehearsed their points with a mentor, a friend, or even a former co-worker. This helps you feel confident and comfortable discussing your qualifications."

By following this advice, job seekers can leave a strong, positive impression on potential employers, increasing their chances of success.
