Kovai: In an effort to enhance road safety, Coimbatore police penalized over 1,000 parents for transporting children to school on two-wheelers without wearing helmets.
As part of their commitment to road safety, the Coimbatore Traffic Police have intensified vehicle inspections across the city, particularly in school zones.
Over the past few days, these inspections have resulted in fines being imposed on 1,083 parents for failing to wear helmets while ferrying their children to school on two-wheelers, a violation of the Motor Vehicle Act.
This initiative is part of the city police's broader efforts to address traffic violations, with daily inspections leading to nearly a thousand cases being registered each day.
The recent crackdown on helmetless riders in school zones is seen as a necessary measure to protect both parents and children on the roads.
Additionally, the special check conducted during this period led to the removal of 41 unauthorized air horns from private vehicles, with cases registered against violators.
Authorities also dismantled 19 illegal billboards and shut down nine unauthorized shops as part of their efforts to maintain public safety and order.
