Chennai: The CSIR-Structural Engineering Research Centre (CSIR-SERC), a constituent laboratory of CSIR, organized the Dr. N. Lakshmanan Memorial Quiz Competition exclusively for Corporation of Chennai School students as part of National Science Day celebrations.

Held under the Jigyasa initiative at the CSIR Campus, Taramani, the event aimed to foster scientific curiosity and research aptitude among young minds.

The program commenced with a welcome address by Dr. M.B. Anoop, Chief Scientist, CSIR-SERC, followed by a brief report on the quiz competition by Dr. S. Maheswaran, Senior Principal Scientist, CSIR-SERC.

The competition was meticulously organized by Shri A.K. Farvaze Ahmed, Principal Scientist, CSIR-SERC, and his team.

A total of 93 students from 31 schools across Chennai participated in the screening test. The top six teams, comprising three students each, advanced to the final round, which featured multiple segments, including an engaging audio-visual round.

The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation, with students displaying keen interest and sportsmanship.

Dr. C. Bharathi Priya and Dr. M. Keerthana, Principal Scientists at CSIR-SERC, delivered motivational talks, inspiring students to pursue scientific research. The event was attended by staff from both CSIR-SERC and CSIR-CMC.

Winners of the Quiz Competition:
First Prize - CHSS, Virugambakkam
Second Prize - CHSS, Korattur
Third Prize - CHS, Padikuppam
Consolation Prizes - CHS, Rangarajapuram; CHS, MGR Nagar; CHSS, Nammalwarpet
The winners were awarded trophies, shields, and prize money, which were presented by Dr. Anandavalli, Director, CSIR-SERC.

The event successfully ignited a passion for science among young students, marking a meaningful tribute to National Science Day.
