Hyderabad: Telangana is gearing up to build a skilled workforce of 16 lakh by 2030, aligning its education system with the demands of high-growth sectors like life sciences, IT, renewable energy, and defence.
The "Bridging the Gap: Integrating Skilling into Telangana's Education System" report, released by CII Telangana and EY-Parthenon, underscores the state's commitment to integrating vocational training and industry-aligned skills into curricula.
With Telangana's economy projected to double by 2030, reaching $374 billion, the government is implementing reforms to enhance educational access and employability.
Initiatives include introducing vocational training from Class 6, incorporating skill-based learning into 30% of traditional curricula, and promoting technology and soft skills.
The report highlights challenges such as high dropout rates, urban unemployment, and a gap in industry-relevant skills among graduates. To address these, Telangana is fostering industry-academia collaborations, mandating internships for students and faculty, and offering hands-on learning through apprenticeships.
Inspired by global models from Germany and Japan, Telangana aims to integrate skilling into its economic fabric.
With a focus on experiential learning and inclusivity, the state envisions a competitive, future-ready workforce driving sustainable growth on the national and global stage.
