Delhi: Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar, addressing students at the India International School in Jaipur, emphasized the critical role of women's education in building a "Viksit Bharat."
He stressed, "Women and education are the two wheels of the chariot that will drive the nation forward," adding that education is a societal equalizer and a cornerstone of democracy.
Dhankhar praised the ancient Vedic era for its focus on women's participation in decision-making, noting that the recent Women Reservation Bill is a significant step toward empowering women in governance. The bill mandates one-third reservation for women in Parliament and State Legislatures, a move he described as the “development of the century.”
The Vice-President also lauded India's National Education Policy (NEP) for moving beyond degree-oriented learning to focus on skill development and talent exploitation. He called on institutions to fully adopt the NEP, ensuring a more purposeful education system.
Highlighting India's growth, Dhankhar remarked that the country is a global hotspot for investment and opportunity, with transparent, accountable governance that combats corruption and promotes meritocracy.
