New Delhi: The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2025, the gateway to the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and other leading business schools, was conducted peacefully across the country on Sunday, with no major technical glitches reported, officials said.
Organised by IIM Kozhikode, the exam was held in three sessions at over 400 test centres across around 160 cities. More than three lakh candidates had registered for the computer-based test, marking a slight increase in applications compared to last year.
Initial feedback suggested a moderate overall difficulty level. Candidates described the quantitative ability section as the most challenging, while the verbal ability and reading comprehension section was considered comparatively easier. Responses on data interpretation and logical reasoning were mixed, according to coaching institute sources.
Security at exam centres was strengthened with biometric verification, frisking, and strict adherence to digital protocols. Minor delays were reported at a few centres due to these additional checks, but the exam proceeded without significant disruption.
The IIMs are expected to release the official answer key and candidates' response sheets by mid-December, with results slated for early January 2026. Those who clear the written test will move to subsequent stages, including the Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD), and Personal Interview (PI).
CAT scores are accepted by over 1,200 management institutes nationwide, making it one of India's most competitive examinations. Officials urged candidates to regularly check the official CAT website for updates on results and admission procedures.
