Chennai: The Chennai Port Authority on Monday organized a workshop-cum-roadshow to promote India Maritime Week (IMW) 2025, scheduled to be held in Mumbai from October 27 to 31.

The event saw participation from over 150 delegates, including officials from the Centre and Tamil Nadu governments, major and private ports, industry chambers, EXIM trade, shipping lines, and academia. Senior representatives from Dredging Corporation of India, Cochin Shipyard Ltd, Shipping Corporation of India, and Indian Maritime University were also present.

Shri T K Ramachandran, Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, highlighted India's commitment to emerging as a leading global maritime nation. Citing recent initiatives like the India-ASEAN Cruise Dialogue and the BIMSTEC maritime meet, he stressed on strengthening regional cooperation.

Chennai Port Chairman Shri Sunil Paliwal detailed the Ministry's recent policy measures, including reforms in Model Concession Agreements for PPP projects, streamlining environmental clearances, capacity-building programs, and a new common recruitment process for employment generation.

Industry leaders and academicians shared insights on opportunities in port-led development and urged stakeholders to participate in IMW 2025. The event in Mumbai is expected to attract over 1 lakh delegates from 100 countries and generate investment prospects of more than ₹10 lakh crore.

IMW 2025 will feature business forums, exhibitions, and high-level dialogues, focusing on sustainability, technology, and innovation in the maritime sector. Registration details are available on the official website (www.imw.org.in).
