New Delhi: The Department of Science and Technology (DST) has achieved notable progress under the Government's Special Campaign 5.0, aimed at promoting Swachhata and reducing pendency, with 433 cleanliness sites covered and over 1.15 lakh sq ft of office space freed during the mid-campaign review.

Launched under the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Special Campaign 5.0 entered its implementation phase on October 2 after a two-week preparatory period. The DST has reported massive participation from its autonomous institutes and subordinate offices across the country.

As of October 17, a total of 12,160 physical files and 1,132 e-files were reviewed, resulting in the weeding out of 5,133 physical files and closure of 740 e-files — surpassing targets set during the preparatory phase. The department also cleared 63 out of 90 public grievances and disposed of four of seven grievance appeals.

The mid-campaign achievements reflect the department's focus on efficiency, transparency, and workplace hygiene. The campaign has also generated widespread awareness through social media, with #SpecialCampaign5.0 trending across platforms like X, Facebook, and Instagram.

The DST said it remains committed to achieving all targets identified in the preparatory phase, with continuous monitoring and active engagement of its institutions nationwide.
