Chennai: The Central Government has approved the promotion of five Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) Group-1 officers to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) cadre.

According to official sources, the officers — Kavita, Muthukumaran, Leela Alex, Veerappan, and Revathi — have been granted IAS status against vacancies in the Tamil Nadu IAS cadre for the period from January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2023.

In Tamil Nadu, Group-1 officers serving in various departments become eligible for induction into the IAS based on seniority and the number of vacancies allotted in the State's IAS quota.

An official communication conveying the approval has been sent by the Central Government to the Tamil Nadu Government, marking their formal induction into the All India Service.
