New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Thursday said the number of Indian students in Germany has doubled, reflecting the deepening educational and economic ties between the two nations.

Speaking at an event marking German National Day in the national capital, Jaishankar highlighted the growing strength of the India-Germany partnership across sectors, including trade, investment, and education.

Referring to Germany's support following the Pahalgam terror attack, the Minister said, “I appreciate Germany's firm stand with India against terrorism. Minister of State Johann's response underscores our shared commitment to counterterrorism.”

Jaishankar noted that both India and Germany, as major democracies, carry “a significant responsibility to promote global peace, progress, and prosperity” amid uncertain global conditions and economic volatility.

He also welcomed the “steady growth” in bilateral trade and investment, adding that German companies have maintained a long-standing presence in India and that Germany continues to play a key role in India's trade negotiations with the European Union.

“The number of Indian students in Germany has doubled, which makes me particularly proud,” Jaishankar said.
