Chennai: Admissions to government arts and science colleges in Tamil Nadu are expected to be announced shortly, as per officials from the Higher Education Department.

Traditionally, application processes for undergraduate programmes in government colleges begin on the day Plus 2 public examination results are declared. This year, the Directorate of Government Examinations has scheduled the release of the Class 12 results for May 9 at 10 AM.

However, as of now, the Directorate of College Education has not made any official announcement regarding the commencement of the admission process or the publication of application forms, either online or through direct submission.

Principals of government colleges noted that admission guidelines are typically released on the official portal of the Tamil Nadu Government Arts and Science Colleges Admission (TNGASA) at www.tngasa.in. "We are expecting the notification this week," an official said.

There are over 1.14 lakh seats available across 168 government arts and science colleges in the state. Admissions will be conducted in multiple phases based on the number of applicants and seat availability.

Authorities advised students aspiring to join government colleges to stay updated with official notifications and begin preparations in advance.
