Ahmedabad: A government primary school in Gujarat has launched a project encouraging students to ask questions instead of merely responding to teachers, in an effort to develop critical thinking as highlighted in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The initiative, called 'Savaalo Ni Saal' or 'The Year of Questions', is being implemented at Shri Chandap English Primary School in Sabarkantha district, an official release said.
Launched earlier this year, the project aims to awaken curiosity, inspire inquiry, and empower students to find their own answers. The effort has reportedly proven effective in fostering overall development among children.
“No question is considered too small or too big. It's a success that no child now hesitates to ask questions. Students can either ask verbally or drop questions in a question box,” said assistant teacher Kamlesh Kumar Patel.
He added that students now ask openly and teachers guide them, helping build research habits. Students like Dharmik Nareshbhai and Laksh Maheshwari said the initiative makes learning exciting and boosts confidence.
Parents, too, have noticed positive changes — improved communication, critical thinking, and greater self-confidence in their children, said Rajesh Kumar Maheshwari, a parent.
According to the release, the project has helped students become more curious, logical, and self-motivated, even extending their discussions and curiosity beyond the classroom.
