Chennai: The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras), is gearing up to admit its second batch of students to the B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics in the 2025-26 academic year.
Offered through the Wadhwani School of Data Science and AI (WSAI), the program aims to develop global leaders in Artificial Intelligence by combining rigorous academic training with industry engagement.
The program admits 50 students annually through JEE (Advanced) counselling via JoSAA under the course code 412L. With a focus on both theoretical and applied aspects, the curriculum includes foundational courses in mathematics, machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, and reinforcement learning, along with electives in fields like computer vision, speech technology, and time-series analysis.
“This B.Tech. course is aligned with the needs of both industry and research communities,” said Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras. “Students will be well-prepared to meet real-world challenges and shape a prosperous future.”
Prof. B. Ravindran, Head of WSAI, added, “AI is a transformative technology. We ensure our students gain strong fundamentals, preparing them for advanced research and innovation.”
The program emphasizes responsible AI design, real-world applications, and interdisciplinary learning across sectors like manufacturing and healthcare. WSAI also aims to advise policymakers on AI-related strategies, positioning IIT Madras as a global AI education leader.
