Chennai: IIT Madras' Centre for Innovation (CFI) hosted its 16th annual Open House on March 3, 2024, showcasing groundbreaking projects for industry and investors by more than 1,000 students. The event aimed to highlight innovative technologies to industry professionals, investors, and alumni. Projects included a solar-powered race car, UAVs for medical delivery, an Ultrasonic sound-powered metal 3D printer, and a wearable aiding paralyzed finger. CFI, India's largest student-run innovation lab, fosters entrepreneurship with access to funding and cutting-edge facilities. Prof. V. Kamakoti commended CFI's role in shaping the future of education, aspiring for 20% of graduates to be CTOs of their incubated companies by 2025. The Institute Open House 2024 also democratized awareness of cutting-edge technology, with various labs and Centers of Excellence showcased. Notable projects included assistive devices for the visually impaired, reusable sounding rockets, and a Braille book emulator. Guest of Honor Mr. Ashwani Muppasani praised the practical and innovative student-designed technologies. The event serves as a platform for students to engage with industry professionals and ignite enthusiasm for technology among incoming students.
