Chennai: Plenome Technologies, a deep-tech start-up incubated at IIT Madras, has raised ₹6.5 crore in seed funding from a mix of Indian and foreign investors, giving a significant boost to its plans for global expansion in healthcare and e-governance solutions.
The round was led by Luxembourg-based Ovington Capital Partners, with participation from UAE-based AADI and veteran investor Manish Gandhi, among others.
Plenome specialises in developing secure, scalable Blockchain and AI-based digital infrastructure. Its flagship products include BlockTrack OrganEase, a solution for managing organ donation registries, and BlockVote, a pay-per-use remote voting platform that has already been successfully deployed in IIT Madras student elections. The company is also piloting Ashwin, a multilingual AI-powered voice-enabled platform for electronic data capture and diagnostics, currently being trialled in dental healthcare.
Founded by Prof. Prabhu Rajagopal, Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar awardee and faculty at IIT Madras' Mechanical Engineering Department, the start-up is also led by co-founders Vijayaraja Rathinasamy, an embedded systems expert, and blockchain developer Anirudh Varna.
“This funding validates our vision to deliver privacy-first, interoperable tech solutions across healthcare and voting systems. We are thankful to our investors for backing us,” said Prof. Rajagopal.
CEO of IIT Madras Incubation Cell, Dr. Tamaswati Ghosh, said Plenome's tech-backed solutions are already gaining national and international traction, and praised the team for innovating in highly competitive domains.
Plenome's proprietary patent-protected architecture enables secure, decentralized data storage and real-time access across institutions. The start-up is also working on what could be the world's first distributed AI protocol to power trusted applications in critical sectors.
“Plenome exemplifies the kind of impact-driven innovation we back. We're excited to support their global journey,” said Marco Palacino of Ovington Capital.
The start-up plans to expand its reach across global markets while strengthening its digital trust infrastructure in India.
