Mumbai: JBCN Education has reaffirmed its commitment to holistic learning by placing sports at the heart of its educational philosophy.

Observing that “sports do not just build character—they reveal it,” Managing Director Kunal Dalal said the institution integrates athletic engagement into its “EduCreative” framework to foster balanced physical, cognitive, and emotional growth.

Dalal emphasized that multiple studies link physical activity to improved academic performance, as exercise enhances memory, focus, and emotional regulation. However, with Indian adolescents averaging just 16 minutes of daily activity—far below the WHO-recommended 60 minutes—he stressed the need for schools to incorporate sports into their daily curriculum.

JBCN schools have structured programs that embed sports into the timetable, offering mainstream and emerging disciplines such as football, basketball, fencing, and pickleball. The Talent Development Programme identifies and nurtures young athletes from an early stage, ensuring equal opportunities for both boys and girls. With over 350 young women athletes across campuses, inclusivity remains a central focus.

The institution also encourages competitive exposure through annual events like the IB School Cricket Championship and international sports edu-tours. Among its achievers are Tiya Chopra, who won multiple gold medals at the ISSO National Games and represented India at the ISF Games in Bahrain; Shivay Dalal, named “Player of the Series” during a UK cricket tour; and several state and national champions including Zia Sanghvi, Rishaan Thakkar, and Rivan Kolahi.

“Sports teach discipline, teamwork, patience, and resilience—skills that extend far beyond the field,” Dalal said. “At JBCN, we do not just coach athletes; we nurture changemakers.”

The institution continues to invest in sports infrastructure and professional coaching to prepare learners not only for competition but also for leadership and lifelong well-being.
