Chennai: The students of NIT Tiruchirappalli (NIT-T) clinched the championship titles in both the Kabaddi (Men & Women) and Badminton (Men & Women) categories at the All India Inter-NIT Tournament.

The tournament, hosted by NIT-T, commenced on January 24, 2025, with an inauguration by Mr. Arvind Banavath, IPS, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Thiruverumbur, in the presence of the Institute's Director, Dr. G. Aghila.

Dignitaries including Dr. R. Karvembu, Dean of Students' Welfare; Dr. N. Kumaresan, Dean of Faculty Welfare; Dr. S. A. Senthil Kumar, Registrar; Dr. A. Solomon Raja, Senior SAS Officer; and Mr. Dalleykrishnan, SAS Officer, also graced the occasion.

A total of 25 NITs and IIEST Shibpur competed in the tournament.

NIT-T emerged victorious, securing top honors in both Kabaddi and Badminton.

Outstanding performances were highlighted by Ms. Sandhya (IV year B.Tech. Production Engineering), who received the All-Rounder Award, and Mr. Raju (III year B.Tech. Civil Engineering), who earned the Best Rider Award in Kabaddi. Additionally, Ms. Nithya (IV year B.Arch.) was recognized as the Best Player in Women's Badminton.

The runner-up positions went to SVNIT Surat (Kabaddi) and VNIT Nagpur (Badminton).

This remarkable feat underscores NIT-T's dominance in sports and highlights the talent nurtured at the institution.
