Puducherry: Pondicherry University celebrated National Librarians' Day with a special training session on the Web of Science database, organised by the Ananda Rangapillai Library in collaboration with the Department of Library and Information Science.

The event was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. Prakash Babu, who lit the ceremonial lamp and highlighted the vital role of libraries in promoting academic excellence and research. He stressed the need for adopting advanced digital resources to enhance scholarly output.

Special addresses were delivered by University Librarian Dr. M. Vijayakumar and Prof. R. Sevukan, Dean, School of Media and Communication, who underlined the significance of digital databases for quality research and global visibility.

The highlight of the programme was a hands-on training session on the Web of Science platform, conducted by Dr. Jaswanth Jenny P, Solution Consultant at Clarivate. The session familiarised faculty members, research scholars, and students with advanced techniques for literature search, citation tracking, and research analytics.

The programme began with the University Anthem, followed by a welcome address by Prof. R. Jeyshankar, Head of the Department of Library and Information Science. Dr. P. Vijayakumar, Assistant Librarian, proposed the vote of thanks before the event concluded with the National Anthem.

The celebration served as a blend of commemoration and capacity building, reaffirming Pondicherry University's commitment to fostering a robust research culture and equipping its academic community with tools for cutting-edge scholarship.
