Pondicherry: Pondicherry University has strongly rejected recent allegations claiming the institution remained silent on alleged misconduct linked to its Karaikal Campus, reportedly based on an audio file in circulation.
A team of senior university officials visited Karaikal and conducted a thorough inquiry with all relevant stakeholders. Their investigation found no prima facie validity to the claims, which appear to stem from an old audio file that had already been investigated and closed.
The University emphasized that it has a robust mechanism to address any student concerns and maintains a zero-tolerance policy on sexual harassment. The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), constituted under the POSH Act, promptly handles complaints of sexual misconduct, and students or staff can directly approach the ICC.
Pondicherry University urged the public not to spread rumours that could harm the reputation of the institution. It also appealed to stakeholders to support the internal mechanism by providing concrete evidence of any misconduct, so that appropriate action can be taken against perpetrators.
The University reaffirmed its commitment to a safe and respectful environment for all students and staff. Contact details of the ICC are available on the University website, and boards have been placed at key locations across all campuses to ensure accessibility.
Pondicherry University concluded by stressing that any genuine complaint will be thoroughly investigated, underscoring its dedication to justice, accountability, and the integrity of its academic environment.
