Chennai: NIT Puducherry is set to launch its Science Technology Innovation (STI) Hub as part of the project titled "STI Hub for Socio-Economic Empowerment of SC Community of Union Territory of Puducherry through Technology Assisted Fish Farming, Fish Processing, and Value Addition," funded by DST-SEED Division, Government of India. Scheduled for February – March 2024, a series of training programs will be conducted.Equipped with state-of-the-art Fish Processing Equipment including Solar Fish Dryers, Cold Storage, Fish Mincer, Batter Breading Machine, Ice Flakers, and more, the newly constructed hub at NIT Puducherry aims to offer comprehensive training to beneficiaries. Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, will inaugurate the STI Hub on February 5, 2024.Targeting primarily the SC community and participants from other marginalized sections, the initiative seeks to impart both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in Fish Processing and Value Addition. This endeavor provides a unique opportunity for beneficiaries to enhance their expertise and contribute actively to their financial well-being.Interested individuals keen on enrolling in the training program are encouraged to register by contacting the designated personnel. Free transportation from Karaikal Bus Stand to NIT Puducherry and back will be arranged for all participants daily during the program. Additionally, participants will be provided with food and refreshments at no cost.There is no registration fee for the program.  Interested participants are requested to register by February 1, 2024, 4 PM.
