Puducherry: The Pondicherry University (PU) Community College signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Information and Publicity, Government of Puducherry, to establish a Social Media Internship and Communication Wing for disseminating information on government welfare schemes.

The MoU was signed at the Chief Minister's Office in the Assembly in the presence of Chief Minister N. Rangasamy and Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. Prakash Babu. Registrar (In-Charge) Prof. Rajneesh Butani and Director of Information and Publicity Shri R. Munuswami were the signatories.

Under the agreement, the new wing will function under the supervision of the Department of Information and Publicity and will be managed by final-year Visual Communication students from the college. The team will work on creating and disseminating verified information on welfare programmes and public initiatives through social media platforms.

A five-member team will operate from the Chief Secretariat, with Shri R. Munuswami representing the Department and Dr. Kritika serving as the Nodal Officer from the Community College.

The event was attended by Shri Mohamed Ashan Abid, Secretary, Department of Information and Publicity, Prof. Victor Anandkumar, Dean - International Relations, and Prof. Lalitha Ramakrishnan, Principal of the Community College.

Officials said the initiative will enhance transparency, promote citizen engagement, and provide students with valuable hands-on experience in communication and media management.
