Tamil Nadu Higher Education minister, Dr K Ponmudi at a recent meeting of Vice-Chancellors, has asked them to utilise their powers under the Statute and Act of the University, to take action against the erring affiliated colleges, BU Vice-Chancellor, Prof G Thiruvasagam said..

University would strictly monitor collection of capitation fees, high level of tuition fees and allowing untrained teachers to take classes and withdraw the courses and also stop new admissions, he said.

He said the general public, parents and students can  directly lodge the complaint to him or the registrar.  Moreover, the colleges have to send the full details of the funds collected from the students under different heads, after one month of completion of admission, Thiruvsagam said.

Complaints have been received with regard to non-availability of basic facilities, like toilets and fans in colleges, he said adding that a special squad would be sent to the colleges to verify and submit report on the shortcomings, based on which action would be initiated against the institutions.
