Chennai: Tamil Nadu Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE) declared the Higher Secondary Second Year (Class 12) examination results on May 8.
The examinations were conducted from March 2 to March 26, 2026 with a total of 7,91,654 students having appeared for the examinations among which 4,18,724 were girls and 3,72,930 boys.
Overall, 7,53,694 students passed, taking the state pass percentage to 95.20. Girls recorded a pass percentage of 97.00, while boys registered 93.19.
Girls outperformed boys by 3.81 percentage points.
Compared to 2025, the overall pass percentage increased marginally by 0.17 percentage points.

Private self-financing schools: 98.72%
Co-educational schools: 95.30%
Girls' schools: 97.08%
Boys' schools: 90.49%
Girls' schools performed 6.59 percentage points better than boys' schools.
