In commemoration of 'World Polio Eradication Day' (24-10-2017) and 'Complete Eradication of Polio from Sri Lanka', an awareness session was organized by Trincomalee Rotary Club on 28 - 10 - 2024 at St. Joseph College, Trincomalee..In this event, Mr. Jayasankar and Mr. Thavasilingam gave the welcome speech and explained the great achievement of the 'World without Polio' project of the Rotary Club worldwide.
Dr.E.G.Gnanakunalan - on behlf of Rotary Public Relation explained the Rotary involvement in eradicating Polio from Srilanka & how US $ 550 Million was collected & contributed. Now up to now only 54 Polio cases were reported from Pakistan (32) & Afghanistan (22).
He also pointed out that another Killer Disease “Malaria” is eliminated from Srilanka & requested Younger Generation must do their best to eliminate “Dengue” from our mother nation.
