Houston, TX — The essence of Tamil devotion and heritage lit up Houston on Saturday evening as Thiruvilayadal Puraanam, a grand production by Obu Creations & Fashion Productions, enthralled audiences with its spectacular fusion of dance, drama, and music.
With over 230 attendees, the 4-hour show held the crowd spellbound from the first note to the final bow, reflecting deep artistry, devotion, and cultural pride.
Guests & Supporters -
The evening was graced by eminent guests — Shri Sai Prakash, Assistant Vice Consul (Accounts); Geetha Ravula, Ashirwad Foundation; Sundar Arun and Malathi Sundar, Chairman, Shri Meenakshi Temple Society; Subin Balakrishnan and Mrs. Subin, President, Guruvayurappan Temple; and Sakthi Raavanan, International Parai Institute.
Title sponsorship came from Magesh and Tiwakar (Vasa Promoters, Dallas), with Gold Sponsors — Benita Parthiban and Vignesh Alwar (Sun Research Institute, San Antonio) and Muru Manickam and Viji Muru (Chicago) — whose generous support brought this cultural vision to life.
Behind the Curtain -Over 40 performers and 20 backstage crew worked tirelessly to recreate the divine legends of Lord Shiva. Lakshmi Dance Academy, Geetha Ravula, and QCloset provided exquisite costumes and props, while the makeup team — Sangeetha, Durga, and Nilesha — added magic to every character.
Musical Highlights- A standout moment was the soulful Veenai-Violin fusion by Houston Kalakshetra and Kalaikalam Arts, and live singing by Sankar, both of which drew thunderous applause.
Audience Reactions- Audiences praised the production's authenticity and emotion. “It felt like stepping into a divine world,” said one viewer.
“Every detail — from choreography to music — was filled with devotion.”
A Vision Realized Director Obuli Kartik and Founder Janaki expressed gratitude to the artists, sponsors, and Houston community: “This was more than a performance — it was a celebration of culture, connecting generations through art and faith.”
The evening ended with a standing ovation — another proud milestone for Obu Creations, continuing its mission to preserve and promote Indian art and spirituality in Houston.
