India Association of San Antonio (IASA) Shines at the 17th Annual DiwaliSA Festival of LightsSan Antonio, TX — November 1, 2025:
The India Association of San Antonio (IASA) proudly participated in the DiwaliSA River Walk Parade, held at the world-famous San Antonio River Walk as part of the 17th Annual Diwali San Antonio Festival of Lights.
This year's celebration — filled with the sights, sounds, flavors, and traditions of India — illuminated Hemisfair and the Arneson River Theatre on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 4:30 p.m. to midnight. The free, family-friendly festival, open to the public, honored the vibrant cultural diversity of India and was hosted by AnujaSA and the City of San Antonio.
The IASA team showcased the captivating parade theme “India Gate,” inspired by the iconic monument in New Delhi — a timeless symbol of pride, unity, and remembrance. Through this theme, IASA celebrated India's spirit of strength and togetherness, highlighting how Diwali unites people of all faiths — Hindu, Muslim, and Christian — in the spirit of light, harmony, and joy.
The IASA team worked tirelessly for nearly a month and a half to plan, design, and execute the “India Gate” theme and its beautiful decorations. Kudos to Brijesh Singh Parihar, Sheela Ramanan, Ramani Raghunath, and Sumitha Mudaliyar for their exceptional creativity, dedication, and teamwork in bringing this magnificent vision to life.
The tradition of Diwali, known as the Festival of Lights, signifies the triumph of light over darkness and perseverance over adversity. During Diwali, homes and streets are adorned with lamps, candles, and vibrant decorations, symbolizing hope, renewal, and unity.
In San Antonio, DiwaliSA holds special significance as it was inspired by the Sister-City relationship between San Antonio and Chennai, India, established in 2008. Since then, this annual festival has grown into one of the city's most anticipated multicultural events, offering visitors an unforgettable experience of Indian dance, entertainment, food, and crafts
