Learning needs to be redefined!

technology is changing many fields today. in the past, technologies were usually useful only in their own areas. but now, new technologies connect different fields and can be used in many ways.take artificial intelligence (ai) as an example. ai is used in almost every field today. while ai brings many benefits, it also needs to be handled carefully in some situations. since the arrival of tools like openai, many tasks are being automated. there are two types of ai: narrow ai, which performs specific tasks, and broad ai, which can understand human thoughts and respond accordingly.inhigher education, the way students are evaluated is also changing. earlier, students were not allowed to read books or talk during exams. now, they are encouraged to read widely and discuss ideas with classmates. this helps them learn better and find good solutions to problems.assessments don't just happen at the end of the semester through written exams. from the very first week in college, students are assessed through projects they work on. this is similar to competitions called hackathons. this kind of assessment is becoming common in many areas.even labs are becoming virtual now. for example, students can see how the human heart works using virtual tools. with augmented reality (ar) and virtual reality (vr), people can practice things like surgery in a virtual setting. because of all this, we need to rethink how learning happens.students can learn from teachers, and teachers can also learn from students. teachers will guide and support students as facilitators. this way of learning is going to be more common in the future.— dr. k. senthil ganesh, administrative manager, rvs educational institutions, coimbatore
