IIT-M launches online certificate courses for school students

chennai: iit madras has introduced the 'iitm school connect' program, offering online certificate courses in data science & ai and electronic systems for class xi and xii students to help them explore potential career paths.the courses offer hands-on training, live interactions, assignments, and computer-based assessments, aimed at providing practical career experience.iit madras launched the 'iitm school connect' initiative to guide school students in making informed decisions about higher education and careers.two eight-week certificate courses in 'data science and artificial intelligence' and 'electronic systems' have been designed by iit professors for class xi and xii students.with over 11,000 students already enrolled in the first batch and more than 500 schools partnering with iit madras, the program has garnered significant interest. highlighting the initiative's importance, prof. andrew thangaraj, chair of iit madras' centre for outreach and digital education (code), emphasized the institute's commitment to guiding young minds early. the next batch begins on october 21, 2024, with registrations open from september 16, 2024.iit madras plans to introduce additional short-term programs in the coming months, providing school students with opportunities to explore various academic fields.
