IIT Madras Centre for Responsible AI Partners with Roche Diagnostics for R&D
chennai: the centre for responsible ai (cerai) at iit madras has partnered with switzerland-based roche diagnostics international ltd. to advance ai and analytics solutions in in-vitro diagnostics (ivd). roche joins cerai as a gold consortium member under a newly signed memorandum of understanding (mou).the collaboration will focus on ethical ai research, policy discussions, and developing whitepapers, with roche contributing expertise in ai-driven diagnostics. cerai, a leading interdisciplinary research centre at iit madras, aims to establish responsible ai standards and policies in india.the partnership was announced at the 'iitm-cerai, roche symposium on responsible ai in healthcare' on 10th february 2025 at iit madras. addressing the event, prof. manu santhanam, dean (ic&sr), iit madras, emphasized the institute's commitment to industry collaboration and technology transfer.prof. b. ravindran, head of cerai, highlighted the importance of ethical ai in healthcare, while manu dev, chapter lead at roche information solutions, underscored the role of data-driven decision-making in digital health. adarsh srivastava from roche stressed the need for ai ethics to ensure fairness and transparency in medical decision-making.this partnership is expected to drive responsible ai innovation in diagnostics, ensuring patient safety and advancing digital healthcare solutions globally.
