MoSPI hosts workshop on citizen-generated data for SDG monitoring

delhi: the ministry of statistics and programme implementation (mospi) organized a half-day workshop on "leveraging citizen-generated data (cgd) for sustainable development goals (sdgs) in india" on february 17, 2025, in new delhi. the event aimed to enhance awareness of cgd as a tool to address data gaps and promote inclusivity in the national statistical system.inaugurated by mospi secretary dr. saurabh garg, the workshop saw participation from 75 officials, un representatives, and civil society members. dr. garg emphasized cgd's role in complementing official statistics and aligning with india's participatory governance vision. discussions focused on integrating cgd into sdg monitoring and addressing challenges like data privacy and scalability.experts from unrco, digi yatra foundation, and sbi shared insights on cgd applications. mospi officials reiterated the ministry's commitment to leveraging non-traditional data sources for better policymaking. the event concluded with a vote of thanks by adg shri s. c. malik.
