Rashtriya Raksha University hosts programme on maritime security

chennai: rashtriya raksha university (rru) recently organized the itec programme on integrated coastal and maritime security, where top naval leaders emphasized india's commitment to securing its maritime interests. chief of naval staff (cns) admiral dinesh k. tripathi assured the nation that the indian navy is dedicated to protecting national maritime interests "anytime, anywhere, anyhow."vice chief of naval staff (vcns) vice admiral krishna swaminathan, the event's chief guest, highlighted the importance of regional cooperation to address maritime security challenges. he underscored the indian navy's operations in the indian ocean region (ior), the importance of joint efforts for safe navigation, and the legal framework to combat maritime crimes. quoting prime minister narendra modi, he stressed the oceans as a shared responsibility and the need for peaceful dispute resolution under international law.prof. (dr.) bimal n. patel, vice chancellor of rru, expressed gratitude for the ministry of external affairs' support stressing rru's role as a global platform for capacity building, information exchange, and addressing emerging maritime threats like piracy, arms smuggling, and climate change.the event brought together 30 maritime professionals from 14 countries, promoting knowledge-sharing and cooperation for regional maritime security.
